Messenger for Desktop brings Facebook Messenger to your computer. This cross-platform app, developed by Aluxian Apps, offers the possibility of chatting with Facebook friends, coworkers, and family directly from your PC, while working or browsing the web, that is, without the need to use the Facebook platform.

With Messenger for Desktop, you can chat with your contacts just like you would using the official mobile app. You can have group conversations, as well as make voice and HD video calls, and record short voice messages to any of your contacts. Sound and desktop notifications will let you know whenever a new message arrives. Conversations can be enriched using the numerous emoticons and stickers available.

You can also use the app to send attachments, like pictures, audio, video, or any other type of file you need to share with your contacts. Other options include the possibility of muting or deleting undesired contacts or reporting selected messages as spam.

The app has a simple and clean design that resembles the official mobile app. From the Settings section you can make a few adjustments, like enabling sound and activating desktop notifications.

In short, Messenger for Desktop is a nice and simple messaging app that lets you stay in touch with your Facebook contacts from the comfort of your desktop. The app is free and is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
